St. Martins is located near the city of St. John in New Brunswick. It is a place of tidal wonder at the heart of the Bay of Fundy. Bay of Fundy is popular due to its rhythm of the world's highest tides with its maximum range of 48 to 54 feet. From Highway 1, exit at St. Martins thru Route 111 to reach St. Martins. There are two popular places to visit in St. Martins, St. Martins Sea Caves and Fundy trail.
St. Martins Sea Caves
St. Martins Sea Caves can only be accessed during the low tide. To check the tides schedule, please visit the Bay of Fundy website. During the low tide, one can walk to the caves. Please note that the beach is rocky not sandy so that one needs to wear shoes. There are couples of restaurants that you can eat while enjoying the views.
Fundy Trail
From the St. Martins Sea Caves, you can head out to Fundy trail. About 2.4 km of Big Salmon River road, turn right toward Little Beach road. Go straight and you will see the entrance to the Fundy trail. There is a fee to get into this Fundy trail.
Fee: Fundy Trail Website
This Fundy trail is still under development to expand their trails. When I visited this place, the furthest point was the Long Beach. Since there is only once entrance, you can drive all the way to Long Beach first and do everything in reverse. Three trails that I liked during my visit were Suspension foot bridge & Mitchell Franklin Bridge, Fuller Falls, and Fownes Head. If you want to do kayaking, it is better to do it at Hopewell Rocks. The views were amazing there. Instead of driving, you can also do the hiking throughout the trails shown in the yellow line.
