Itinerary to South Korea
Day 8: Udo Island & Jeju Island
Udo Island
This morning we woke up early because we were planning to go to Udo island and it was quite far to drive about 3 hours from where we stayed. We also wanted to catch the early ferry and wanted to go back to hotel before it got dark. I skipped the breakfast this morning except my dad. We drove all the way to the Seongsan Harbor where we caught the ferry to Udo island without making any stops.
We got there around 9:15 AM. The next boat was scheduled to leave at 10 AM. We went inside the ticket counter to buy our tickets. We paid 2,000 won/person to enter Udo Island and 30,000 won for a medium sized car for a round-trip. After we bought our ticket, we headed to the queuing area. We were lucky because the weather was nice. During a bad weather, the ferry was sometimes not running to Udo island. The ferry was running every hour from Seongsan Harbor to Udo island.

When the ferry arrived, people without car entered first then people with car. When it was my turn to enter with our car, we had to get in by backing our car. The back entered first. It took approximately 15-20 minutes to get there.

When we arrived at Udo Island, we visited the visitor center to use the toilet and took pictures after that. If you do not drive while in here, you can rent a bike, scooter, ATV, or take a shuttle bus. Udo island means "cow island". It was called Udo because the shape of the island resembles the lying cow. This island was very popular and had been seen in variety shows like 2 days 1 night, movies, and TV dramas.
Seobin Baeksa Beach
The first destination was Seobin Baeksa Beach. When we got there, we directly were looking for lunch since we were all hungry. We went to a restaurant in front of the beach. This restaurant was cheap, a lot, and delicious. I loved Jjajang noodle and the Jjajang noodle here was the best that I had ever had. Next to the restaurant, they sold peanut ice cream and was very popular in Udo island. After lunch, we went to beach and took some pictures. The beach was very clean look like sand beach but it was actually white pebbles.

Geommeolle Beach
The second destination was Geomeolle Beach. This beach was located close to Udobong Peak. We skipped to hike the Udobong Peak and the cave since my mom could not walk too much due to her stomach issue.
Hagosudong Beach
The last destination was Hagosudong Beach. The beach in here was dirty. There were lots of garbage laying in the beach. The restroom were full with mosquitoes. The view was nice and the water was clear. In this beach, there was couples statues. One of them was mermaid.
Our visit was so short and I would like to come back again like staying a night and to climb Udobong peak and take a boat to the cave that I missed this time. From Hagosudong beach, we took the ferry back to Seongsan Harbor.

Our next destination was Seongsang Ilchulbong Peak. This place was very beautiful. Unfortunately, I did not hike the trails. It was on my bucket lists with Hallasan mountain for my future visit. Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak rose from under the sea in a volcanic eruption over 100,000 years ago. The crater was about 600 meter in diameter and 90 meter in height. When we got there, there are lots of people there especially tour visitors from China.

From Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak, we headed to Trick Eye Museum. I had to skipped Seopjikoji for my bucket list in the future visit.
Jeju Folk Village

Next, we went to Jeju Folk Village. This village showed the historical houses and facilities where people used it in 1890's in a total of 117. There were mountain village, hill-country village, fishing village, and shamanism village. There were couples of movies and TV dramas that were filming in this location. Popular TV dramas that were filming here were Daejanggeum in which she learned medicine as a maid and The moon embraces the sun.
After finishing the tour inside the Jeju Folk Village, it was time to drive back to our hotel. My mom would like to buy Jeju oranges so we drove back to Seosokkak Estuary. The eomonnie in the store still remembered us and mom bought a lot of jeju chocolates as gifts back home. The prices of the oranges and chocolates were way cheaper than if you bought it at Seongsan Ilchulbong. After that we went back to the hotel, Hyatt Regency Jeju.
Since it was a dinner time already, we decided to eat somewhere near the hotel. We ate at one of the hotel's restaurant, Folk Village. They served black pork too and that's what we ate. We ate three days in a row.
